1907 Raceday

Thu 19 Oct

Join us in celebrating our 110 year anniversary on our 1907 Raceday featuring the October Hurdle!

Racegoers are being invited to join in a special occasion in Staffordshire on Thursday 19 October - when the 1907 Raceday will mark the 110th year of horse racing at Uttoxeter Racecourse.

Uttoxeter Racecourse was built and opened in 1907 by a company formed to take over the licence of Keele Park Racecourse, which had recently ceased to operate. There were five days of racing in 1907 and, according to The Racecourse of Great Britain and Ireland, the meetings were largely patronised by “the nobility and gentry and sportsmen in the county there being 100 members already subscribed to the Club”.

The first meeting held in May, 1907, passed off successfully. So much so, that it encouraged more people to join the Race Club as well as the construction of a new “luncheon room” for them in time for the second meeting on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 October.

By comparison, a stylish restaurant with floor to ceiling windows giving scenic views across the entire racecourse was opened at Uttoxeter Racecourse in 2016. Boasting the name “1907”, it's the perfect place to celebrate.

Dress Code

There is no strict dress code, although many of our customers choose to dress for the occasion and a smart casual look is often adopted. This means both jeans and tailored shorts are perfectly acceptable, however sports shirts, ripped jeans, casual shorts and white trainers are not permitted.

We would recommend that you dress for the weather and wear something comfortable for a day of outdoors. For the glamorous occasions in the racing calendar such as Ladies Night, Ladies Day and Gentlemen’s Day, racegoers make an extra effort to dress up. For more information please click here.
