Uttoxeter Racecourse’s meeting on Saturday 7th April was their last one in the 2017-18 Jump Season so concludes their first Seasonal Leading Trainer and Jockey Awards.
The Leading Trainer and Jockey Awards are proudly sponsored by PP Control & Automation who reward trainers and jockeys with points dependent on the place that they come each race. The winning jockey will be presented with their Season Champion trophy at meeting on Saturday 5 May 2018. The winning trainer will win hospitality for 10 guests at Uttoxeter, plus their trophy.
The winner of this season’s Leading Trainer Award is Dan Skelton on 199 points. This capping of what has been a hugely successful season for the Skelton Team with over 150 winners from the yard. Dan is followed by Jonjo O’Neill at 174 points, Dr Richard Newland with 102 and then National Champion Trainer elect, Nicky Henderson with 85 points.
Dan Skelton has had many runners and plenty of success at the Staffordshire venue throughout the season scoring 33 points or more on three racedays.
The Leading of the Jockey is Aidan Coleman on 225. Followed by Richard Johnson with 208 points, Harry Skelton on 179 and Sam Twiston-Davies at 134 points. Aidan Coleman has been on the leader board throughout the season following Richard Johnson, but after a ban at the Gold Cup. Aidan Coleman was able to take the lead at the last raceday of the season taking his final points tally to 225.
The presentation for the Seasonal Awards will take place at Uttoxeter Racecourse during their bet365 Jump Championship Opener Raceday on Saturday 5 May – first professional raceday of the 2018-19 Jumps Season. Uttoxeter will provide 7 races offering the first points in the new season’s Leading Jockey & Trainer Awards.
There will be plenty of family entertainment on the day in the Centre Course as well as live music from The Daisy Chains before Racing. Making a perfect day out for everyone.
